Building new opportunities

Incredible opportunity to work with a beautiful and historic 100 acre farm used since 1993 for sustainable agriculture research and teaching at the Odum School of Ecology, University of Georgia.
The farm, located only 4 miles from downtown Athens and campus, includes:
·            a restored 1878 farmhouse
·            irrigation ponds and distribution system
·            pastures & 3 trained draft horses
·            duck ponds with nutrient recycling system
·            blueberry, grape, and fig orchards
·            annual cropping systems with living mulch
·            old growth, secondary, and plantation forests
·            500 yards of perennial creek
With many farmer’s markets in the Athens area, this is an ideal situation for locally grown products. The farm is owned by Dr. Carl F. Jordan, now Professor Emeritus. For 23 years he has used the farm for undergraduate classes and graduate student research, but now well past retirement age, he is looking for someone to put organic principles into either commercial practice, or into a non-profit hobby.
